Eltherington has supplied high quality internal cladding for the RIBA award winning new Southbank University building in London.
The company provided the new Student Centre with aluminium canopies, stairway and stainless steel lift shaft cladding, along with bulkhead panels and perforated materials.
Incorporating a flexible new ground floor venue space, a new social learning cafe and a state of the art ICT infrastructure, the new building creates an eye-catching centre piece of this modern campus.
Eltherington’s aluminium and stainless steel internal cladding solutions were specified as part of creating a bright and vibrant space, while offering the client a long life expectancy.
As all of Eltherington’s architectural solutions are manufactured at the company’s six-acre state-of-the-art facility in Hull, Yorkshire, all the products supplied to Southbank University were to the same consistent high quality finish.
The internal metallic painted cladding panels were manufactured with a combination of smooth edges and welded and dressed corners. The chosen metallic colour complimented the polished stainless steel lift entrance areas.
Eltherington worked closely with Hawkins / Brown Architects, Mansell and ECL who were contracted to transform the building throughout the duration of the project to ensure that its solutions integrated with other elements during installation.
London’s Southbank University has since gone on to win a number of prestigious awards, including Design Week Awards and the Royal Institute of Architects Awards (RIBA).
A spokesperson from Hawkins\Brown Architects said: “The internal cladding from Eltherington forms a key element of the visual appeal of the interior space of this large building. We found Eltherington an easy company to work with and very responsove to our requirements, which is exactly what you need on a project of this scale.”
Michael Riding, Business Development Director at Eltherington, said: “We were delighted to be chosen as the supplier of internal cladding and products to Southbank University. Our experience in this area allowed us to supply along with our partners a full range of bespoke solutions that were designed to integrate with other internal elements both during and after installation.”
Eltherington manufactures high quality products for the architectural, modular building and leisure home sectors.
The company has supplied a number of prestigious projects including perforated metallic aluminium cladding for a new 27 storey complex in the heart of London, Polyester powder coated cladding for the new 11 storey headquarters of the LBBW Bank, Moscow and stainless steel column casings to several transport hubs around the UK.
