Knauf Gypsum will preview its new healthcare specification guide at Healthcare Estates (13-14 October 2026), giving attendees a first look at the resource designed to simplify healthcare project specification.

Developed using customer feedback and drawing on Knauf’s experience of supporting healthcare projects, Knauf Design Guide: Healthcare provides a single, sector-specific reference point covering key design considerations, relevant regulations and Knauf’s recommended systems.

At the heart of the guide is a suite of interactive, colour-coded floorplans based on typical room-to-room scenarios found within healthcare settings. Rather than requiring users to work through traditional performance tables, the guide provides a visual way to explore the requirements of different spaces, suggested partition solutions, and other suitable systems.

Design teams follow a simple three click process, moving from floorplan, to Knauf system and directly into NBS to add to their specification. On the platform, users can access supporting information, including technical and test data, BIM models, EPDs and standard drawings. Knauf Design Guide: Healthcare will also be supported by a programme of CPDs specifically for healthcare environments.

Alongside a first look at the new guide, visitors to Knauf’s stand at Healthcare Estates can learn more about its support for healthcare projects, with its specialist team advising how its products and systems can support safer, more comfortable, and better-performing healthcare environments.

This includes fire safety, with visitors able to find out more about Knauf’s 5A’s guide, developed to help professionals understand and interpret fire classification and fire resistance test reports more clearly.

For impact resistance, Knauf’s team can advise on its robust wall systems designed to handle the realities of busy healthcare environments, alongside acoustic solutions to improve privacy and wellbeing for both patients and staff. For specialist areas, Knauf will showcase products such as Safeboard, its plasterboard with a barium sulphate core for X-ray shielding.

Sustainability will also be a key topic at the show. With the NHS Net Zero Building Standard influencing how major healthcare projects are planned and delivered, Knauf will outline the support available to project teams, including Environmental Product Declarations, its Plasterboard Take Back Scheme, its Indoor Comfort Gold Certification for its plasterboards and contractor toolbox talks.

Mark Enderby, Specification Market Manager at Knauf: “With more than £1.5 billion of works planned for England’s NHS estate alone, project teams have a huge amount to deliver across both new and existing healthcare buildings. These are complex environments, where different spaces have different performance requirements, and getting the specification right from the outset is critical.

“That’s why in developing this guide, we started by speaking to specifiers about what would actually help them. They told us they wanted something more visual and practical, and we’ve used that feedback to create a resource that’s easy to navigate and turn floorplans into specifications.

“Healthcare Estates is the ideal place to give people a first look. We’re looking forward to showing what we’ve developed, but also hearing directly from those working on healthcare projects about the challenges they’re facing and where we can support.”
