North West based Frese has won a £135,000 contract to supply the luxury Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, London Bridge, with 800 of its dynamic valves.

The valves will keep precise temperature control for the hotel's heating and cooling systems.

Frese in Burscough is the UK arm of Danish dynamic valve expert.  The firm will install its Frese Optima Compact and Frese Modula ranges of valves in the Shangri-La, situated inside the spire of The Shard, from floors 34 to 52 of the 72 storey, glass clad building.  Frese valves will both ensure the hydraulic balance of the piping and offer precise temperature control.

Building service engineering company – Briggs & Forrester, specified both ranges of Frese pressure independent control valves to be fitted for heating and cooling and deliver a perfect indoor climate.

The Shard London Bridge, a skyscraper in Southwark, London, stands almost 310 meters high and is the tallest building in the EU.

Frese Optima Compact – the pressure independent balancing and control valve - is used in heating and cooling systems for precise temperature control, high comfort and energy savings due to optimal control at lower flow and pump pressure.  An additional benefit is that no balancing is required if further stages are added to the system, or if the dimensioned capacity is changed.

A compact and versatile valve system, Frese Modula combines the Frese range of dynamic flow, pressure and temperature control valves with isolation, flushing, draining and measurement components within a prefabricated, tested and ready to install terminal connection assembly.

The Shard London Bridge is to contain office space, a 200-bed 5-star hotel, three floors of restaurants and ten apartments (priced at approximately £50 million each).

Frese was founded in Denmark in 1944 and opened its UK offices in Burscough, Lancashire, in 2004.  It is a world leading manufacturer of pressure independent flow and temperature control valves for precise indoor climate control of energy efficient heating and cooling systems in residential, commercial and institutional buildings.
