As independent spa experts we're always being asked for our spa recommendations. We also receive a large amount of feedback and comments from spa-goers across the UK. For this reason, we've split this year's awards into two – national awards, with the winners chosen by the Good Spa Spies, and regional awards, which will be decided by reader votes.

National awards: Spas nominated for a national award have been selected by our expert panel of Good Spa Spies. The 45 finalists have been chosen from the many spas we've reviewed over the last year, spanning the length and breadth of the UK. Winners will be decided by the Good Spa Spies. The national categories are as follows:
Regional reader awards: Spas nominated for a regional award have all been reviewed by The Good Spa Guide. They have received the highest bubble ratings in their respective region. For each region, the spa with the highest number of reader votes will be crowned winner.
How to vote in the regional reader awards: Spa fans can vote online via our awards website, www.goodspaawards.com, by simply picking their favourite spa in their chosen region: www.goodspaawards/channel-islands
Important dates: Voting is open now and closes on 31st August 2012. Winners will be announced in September (date TBC).
The rules: Fans can only vote for one spa in each region.
