David Lloyd Leisure is unveiling its latest investment in children’s facilities and services, with a new Tinies nursery and a revamped DL Kids zone dedicated to family fun.

Europe’s premier sports, health and leisure group has ploughed £300,000 into its gym in York to upgrade its DL Kids offering, featuring a dedicated children’s zone with two studios, a classroom, an outdoor area and an enhanced programme of term-time and school holiday kids activities and birthday parties. There will also be a club crèche.

The new Tinies nursery, due to open on July 23, will offer up to 50 full-time day care places, with a 10 per cent discount and waiting list priority for David Lloyd York members. Youngsters attending Tinies will be given access to David Lloyd Leisure’s exclusive All Stars junior coaching programmes, offering children’s tennis lessons and swimming courses.

The partnership – which is the second for David Lloyd Leisure and Tinies – combines the high standards of loving care and early years education that parents expect from Tinies together with the fantastic facilities and expertise of David Lloyd Leisure coaches in integrating active play and exercise into a child’s day at nursery.

Sarah Hobbs, head of sport, health and fitness for David Lloyd Leisure - which spent £2.5million on its DL Kids concept in 2011 - added: “This latest investment will provide a fantastic opportunity for children to enjoy themselves in a safe and modern environment.

“We know that children who have positive sporting or active experiences at a young age are more likely to continue being active in adulthood. The DL Kids programmes are designed to provide the opportunities for children to get active, focusing on fun and participation and with practical facilities that work for the family as a whole.”

Oliver Black, director at Tinies Childcare, said: “The Tinies nursery at David Lloyd is a great example of a partnership. Children receive wonderful childcare and education with Tinies, as well as having access to the great physical facilities that David Lloyd has to offer, with elements like tennis, football and swimming all included at no extra cost.”

Sally Frisby, general manager at David Lloyd York, said: “We are very excited about our new DL Kids zone, which is a great multi-purpose facility enabling us to deliver a diverse programme for our young members. We are also delighted to be working in partnership with Tinies to offer families in York a comprehensive array of children’s facilities and services.”
