A new-build Gateshead hotel has been kitted-out with Marshall-Tufflex’s Sovereign Plus PVC-U perimeter trunking, a system developed specifically for installations requiring a neat, smaller-sized containment system.

Fully equipped with the latest business and leisure facilities, the £17 million 200-bedroom hotel is managed by a global hotel brand. Construction of the seven storey building involved architects Harris Partnership, main building contractor Marshall Construction and mechanical and electrical contractor AF Connell.

Established for 40 years, AF Connell is a family firm specialising in commercial and leisure installations. “As Marshall-Tufflex is a well-known and reliable brand in cable management we felt confident in putting Sovereign Plus forward for specification,” said Gary Pickersgill, Mechanical Director, AF Connell. “It was chosen because of its suitability. It has gone in extremely well and without problems.”

John Hepton of project architect the Harris Partnership confirmed that Sovereign Plus was specified for its suitability: “Compared to the other options, Sovereign Plus was more robust and slender in profile,” he said.

Three compartment Sovereign Plus measures just 75mm x 20mm. For this project it was supplied by Newey & Eyre, Leeds, and has been installed throughout the hotel’s bedrooms and in offices.

Sovereign Plus is suitable for residential housing, light commercial and leisure applications where a smaller trunking system is required. It has overlapping fittings, a smooth one-piece easy-to-clean cover and accessories that can be wall-mounted or flush fitted into the wall. Accessory boxes are designed to accept both square and radiused corner accessories. Sovereign Plus is also available in aluminium.
