A new swimming pool insulation product is now available through Panel Systems, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of Styrofoam insulation, which meets current building regulations requirements and helps pool owners to reduce running costs.

The product, known as Styropool, is available in three thickness grades, 300, 500 and 700, and is manufactured from Styrofoam extruded polystyrene. Styropool meets the latest Building Regulations, Part L1A2010, which require a swimming pool that is part of a dwelling to achieve a minimum thermal performance, equivalent to a U value of 0.25 W/m2K.

It is a long term insulation solution, which offers high compressive strength and is ideal for insulating the base and retaining walls of a swimming pool. With an average life expectancy of 50 years, Styropool is extremely versatile and can be used for pools of all depths and types.

Suitable for both new pools and renovations, Styropool is easy to handle and cut on site and provides a high level of energy efficiency. The product can be installed above or below the structural element of the swimming pool and features a grooved surface which improves the key of cement and/or render in the pool installation.  In addition, Panel Systems offers a bespoke cutting service in order to meet project requirements, including tapered lighting cut-outs.

Danny Phelan, Sales Manager at Panel Systems, said: “Styropool is the perfect choice for contractors and pool owners, as it is easy to handle, has high compressive strength, water resistance and long lasting performance benefits.  It is ideal for anyone looking to upgrade an existing pool, as part of reducing running costs, or for ensuring new pools meet the latest building regulations.”

Panel Systems Ltd, which will be celebrating 40 years of trading in 2014, is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of cut Styrofoam extruded polystyrene.

Styrofoam combines low thermal conductivity and low water absorption to make it the choice of specifiers in a wide range of insulation applications. It is high strength in compression, tension, bending and shear and has a small uniform cell structure.
