Leading leisure management company Parkwood Leisure has joined forces with Triathlon England as part of a new initiative focused on increasing participation in the sport.
Parkwood is launching a series of training pilots at four centres from January 2014 as part of the GO TRI pilot programme, which aims to offer improved and affordable access to triathlon training and events.
The triathlon-focused swimming and spinning training sessions will run at Parkwood’s sites at Bexley, Dartford, Southend and Portsmouth.
Jason Stanton, Parkwood Leisure’s Assistant Regional Director for the South East Region, said: “The success of the Brownlee brothers has really raised the profile of the sport of triathlon. It’s a fantastic sport and we’re pleased to be playing our part in its development and perhaps even supporting an Olympic medallist of the future.”
Giles O’Brien, Triathlon England’s National Development Manager for GO TRI Training said: “It is great news to get a quality operator such as Parkwood Leisure on board to help pilot our new triathlon training offer.
“Parkwood have always been at the forefront in offering new innovation and I am sure by the levels of interest expressed and with the support and experience of Parkwood we will be in a great position to fully develop the product and roll out GO TRI triathlon training sessions nationwide.”
