Boutique hotel group The House Collection has announced exciting plans to refurbish and relaunch Swynford Paddocks Hotel near Newmarket.

The hotel will be rebranded Paddocks House and the move will create a new local landmark for high quality hospitality, dining and special events.

Paddocks House will be the second hotel for The House Collection, following news that its first hotel, Poets House in Ely, has been named [by The Times] as one of the world’s Top 20 Cool New Hotels for 2013. Both hotels are due to open in the Spring and will create around 30 local jobs.

Paddocks House is an impressive 15-bedroom country house standing in extensive grounds between Newmarket and Cambridge. Like its sister hotel Poets House, it will be fully refurbished in The House Collection’s signature style to create intimate luxury and comfort with a stylish modern edge. Considerable redevelopment of the property will create a new 60-cover restaurant and two private dining rooms, offering the best quality local ingredients with relaxed attentive service, ideal for smaller exclusive gatherings.

An extension to the existing Conservatory will cater for around 150 guests at special events, weddings and celebrations, in a quintessentially English countryside setting. Conference facilities for corporate events and business meetings will also be available.

David Toulson-Burke, Managing Director of The House Collection, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of the second House Collection hotel. Injecting fresh investment into Paddocks House presents a wonderful opportunity to revive the property to its former glory. It will be a fabulous place for local people to enjoy and an asset that will strengthen the wider appeal of the mid-Anglia region, while also supporting local employment. Like Poets House in Ely, Paddocks House will be designed with discerning guests in mind, helping to meet growing demand for high-quality hospitality in mid-Anglia and the Cambridge area.”

Situated in the village of Six Mile Bottom, Paddocks House is only 6 miles from Newmarket, home of some of the world’s best horseracing. The major programme of flat race meetings hosted nearby includes the popular Newmarket Nights season when guests can enjoy an evening of racing topped off with chart-topping live music.

Paddocks House is just 11 miles from historic Cambridge, where the famous university, stunning medieval architecture and high-tech business cluster attracts millions of visitors each year. The hotel is easily accessible by road from London, just over an hour away via the M11, and by rail from King’s Cross or Liverpool Street to Cambridge.
