Thomas Dudley Ltd and Black Country Living Museum have announced a major new sponsorship agreement.

The agreement, which starts in September 2014, will see Thomas Dudley become the proud sponsor of the Museum’s ‘Schools Membership Scheme’.

The associated funding will enable well over a thousand local children to visit the Museum for value-adding, out of classroom activities.

Martin Dudley, Joint Managing Director at Thomas Dudley, explained “we are absolutely delighted to be supporting both the Museum and local schools. We have been manufacturing high quality iron castings and bathroom products in the town since 1920 and are passionate about the development of young talent”.

“This sponsorship follows our work in putting together the UK’s first dedicated Foundry Apprenticeship Scheme and our unique Careers in the Classroom initiative. We look forward to working closely with the Museum over the coming year, to giving youngsters an insight into the Black Country’s unrivalled past, present and future manufacturing capabilities and to helping nurture the UK’s next generation of engineers”.

The partnership could also lead to the provision of engineering themed learning visits and Key Stage 2 and 3 students being invited to attend behind-the-scenes tours of Thomas Dudley’s state-of-the-art foundry and plastics moulding divisions.

Vicki Stanley, Director of Development at Black Country Living Museum, added “Thomas Dudley’s support will allow us to bring 1,200 children from a wide range of local schools to the Museum, many of whom will be coming for the first time. They will learn about and be inspired by the hard working people in the Black Country”.

Thomas Dudley employs over 250 people at its Birmingham New Road Head Office and some 300 people across all of its group companies. Black Country Living Museum is one of the finest open air museums in the UK.
