A senior sales professional with high-level retail and hospitality expertise has been recruited by Welsh Slate to help develop its slateware brand.

Sarah Egan joins the North Wales-based company, the world's leading manufacturer of high-quality slate for a range of architectural and building applications, to promote its range of prestige slate tableware used by Michelin-star chef Michael Caines in his Abode restaurants.

The range is divided into four complementary collections and includes placemats, plates, coasters and cheese boards that can feature hand-dressed edges and natural veining. Designed by Michael Caines himself, it unifies the natural beauty of Welsh slate, which is 500 million years old, with the exacting demands of contemporary cuisine.

Sarah joins Welsh Slate from Churchill China where she worked with a team of regional sales managers, a network of independent and national distributors and end users such as Celtic Manor, Marriot and Park Plaza. Prior to Churchill, she held senior sales roles with Demaglass, also in the hospitality sector, and retailers including Curtina textiles, Clarks Shoes and Kurt Keiger.

She said: "Welsh Slate has great plans for its Slateware portfolio which is increasingly recognised by professional and amateur chefs alike as a stunning and original way to deliver food so this is a great time to be joining the business."
