Novus Property Solutions has extended and refurbished the renowned theatre in a project funded by Arts Council England.
The New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-under-Lyme has been given a comprehensive update, including an extension and makeover of the theatre’s front of house area.
The enclosure of the former balcony area was a key element of the works, but the Novus team also refurbished all of the public areas within the theatre. The works were completed within a quick timescale to limit the impact on the theatre’s revenue.
The Arts Council England grant also enabled the remodelling of the theatre’s café bar, and the creation of new seating areas in underused areas of the building.
The works took four months to complete, giving a much-needed new lease of life to the New Vic Theatre, which opened its doors in 1983, becoming the first purpose-built theatre-in-the-round in Europe.
