Colin Bennett, Operations Manager from Mike England Timber said the external cladding of the lodges is a mid-oak colour where it specified Sikkens Cetol WP 567 BPD base coat, together with further coatings of Sikkens Cetol WF791 translucent finish coat which produced a great finish.
SIKKENS CETOL® WP 567 BPD impregnating primer is a translucent, impregnating base stain for protection against blue stain, fungi and rotting. It impregnates and primes in one coat. Available in a wide range of colours including more than 20 colours from the SIKKENS Joinery Classic Colours Collection and is used as a primer coat for translucent wood coating systems. It’s ready to use from the container and penetrates deep into the timber. It also provides good run-off properties and good UV protection.
SIKKENS CETOL® WF 791 is a translucent, satin semi matt finish coat for profile boards for exteriors and Interiors. SIKKENS CETOL® WF 791 is water soluble and pure acrylic. It’s ready to use, has high water vapour permeability, good weather resistance and provides good UV protection. Again, available in an almost unlimited colour range, from natural wood shades to more contemporary grey, blue and green shades. Whatever the shade required the technical team will aim to provide it.
Colin Bennett said: "With the external cladding done the next call for me was to ask Sikkens which product would do the best job for the internal cladding. I relayed this back to the team at Sikkens and explained the colour we were trying to re-create and that it had to create a natural effect with minimum sheen. They recommended their Cetol WF 771.”
With SIKKENS CETOL® WF 771, Sikkens Wood Coatings provide a special one-pot coating product which is highly protective against the damaging effects of UV light and moisture. Its transparent film deluges and fills the pores in the wood with the Saturator-Effekt® and therefore increases its durability. Flaking of the coating does not occur. This low build, low sheen translucent system is especially suitable for medium to highly exposed wood surfaces such as outdoor decks, garden furniture, roof soffits and cladding. However, it is also perfect to use on internal cladding.
In terms of meeting the needs of commercial cladding coaters, SIKKENS CETOL® WF 771 provides a perfect coating solution, whether its applied by vacuum coater, brush coater or automated spray lines… a real boon at the early stages of construction affording the manufacturer more quality control. The Never Ending Impressions colour range for Cetol WF 771 includes vibrant hues such as coral, lilac and blue through to more the more muted slate, sepia and straw shades.
