Actua, a leading firm of Merseyside Building Surveyors has just completed the project management of a programme of essential maintenance works in Manchester.
The company was appointed as lead designer and contract administrator to work on the prestigious city centre development ‘The Grand Apartments,’ based in the Piccadilly area of Manchester.
The Grand Apartments are one of Manchester's most famous conversions. The development started out as a cotton warehouse in 1867 and thirteen years later was converted into The Grand Hotel. In 2000 work began on transforming the building into 115 apartments, retaining many of the original features throughout.
“The development is a Grade II listed building and required specialist structural adaptations to the existing Atrium floor structure,” explained David Sharp, Director of the Liverpool based Actua. “Once our contractors had completed this work we embarked on essential maintenance work to a number of the apartments.”
Actua specialise in building surveying and defect analysis and have a wealth of experience undertaking a range of services on commercial, industrial and retail buildings as well as educational facilities, leisure, civic buildings and healthcare facilities.
“Securing this project has allowed us to establish a foot-hold in the Manchester market,” said Mr Sharp.
“We’re now focused on building on the success of this project and the relationships we’ve developed and are looking forward to securing further appointments.”
