The high performance qualities of Crown Trade Steracryl Mould Inhibiting Matt paint are helping to protect an historic venue in its day-to-day operations. Applied at Wrightington Conference Centre – part of Wrightington Hospital - the premium product has been used on the ceiling within the Long Drawing Room, along with Crown Trade Eggshell on the ornate friese, and Crown Trade Acrylic Eggshell on the coving. Crown Paints’ Colour Service drew up a sensitive palette of shades using the three paints, in-keeping with the building’s 18th Century heritage, based on gentle golds, blues and creams.
Gary Wilkes is the team manager for the estates office at Wrightington Hospital, part of the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. He said: “The three paints have been exactly what we needed for the Long Drawing Room.
“The room is used to host conferences and there are coffee and tea making facilities inside. Over time, the steam from the urn has risen and damaged the ceiling, causing mould to appear.
“The application of Steracryl Mould Inhibiting Paint will prevent this from happening again in the future.” Pye and Collier Decorators, based in Skelmersdale, have worked on the site for six weeks transforming the building.
Nigel Pye, co-owner of the company, said: “We are thoroughly happy with the final outcome. “The delicate detail around the edge of the ceiling meant certain parts had to be spray painted, while the detailed decoration surrounding the chandeliers had to be hand brushed.
“The paint was of a great quality to apply.”
Measuring up to the fungal testing procedures carried out to British Standard BS3900:G6, Crown Trade Steracryl Mould Inhibiting Paint – which is available in Acrylic Eggshell and Matt - has been rigorously assessed, to make the grade.
