Innovaré Systems, one of the UK’s leading providers of structural insulated panel systems (SIPs), has completed work on the first phase of the £22.5 million redevelopment of One Housing Group’s Kidwells Estate in the centre of Maidenhead.

The new development, which is currently being constructed by Wates Living Space, replaces 1960s-built apartment blocks and will provide a total 204 new high quality homes, including 75 homes for affordable rent, nine for shared ownership and 120 for private sale.

The new blocks, varying from three to six storeys, will provide three and four bedroom family homes as well as one and two bedroom apartments. Residents will also benefit from new outdoor communal areas such as an area for social activities and landscaped gardens.

Pete Blunt, Managing Director of Innovaré Systems said: “The project was originally specified with air source heat pumps which are hugely expensive in terms of procurement, installation and on-going running costs. By using i-SIPs instead, Wates was able to provide a more conventional heating system through the use of boilers and radiators, and as a result, the project is more competitively priced, yet still achieves the performance required to reduce energy costs for residents.”

Construction work is being carried out over four phases to minimise disruption to existing residents. Phase one is due for completion in April 2013 and will provide 84 new homes for residents, with final completion scheduled for 2015.
