A development of six luxurious family homes in rural Warwickshire will be heated by the latest air source technology from Danfoss Heat Pumps UK.
Danfoss DHP-AQ heat pumps were specified for the development of four-bedroomed properties overlooking the River Avon at Welford-on-Avon.
Warwickshire-based renewable energy specialists Stratford Energy Solutions carried out the installation for developer Temple Oak Ltd.
Managing Director of Temple Oak Ltd. Keith Greenall explained: “I began to look into air source heat pump technology for this development because it was a planning requirement that we included a renewable energy source.
"The pumps were specified by architects Design-Visual who researched all of the available options. They recommended the Danfoss DHP-AQ pump because it fitted with the requirements to use a model which would avoid any noise disturbance to homeowners or their near neighbours.
“I have been very pleased with the service provided by Stratford Energy Solutions and I expect to be using this type of heat pump again in future developments.”
Each of the new homes is fitted with a 9kW DHP-AQ air source heat pump, which supplies an underfloor heating system as well as providing all of the hot water requirements. The external units are fitted adjacent to the garage wall of each property, and connected to Danfoss Maxi units and buffer tanks, which have been neatly fitted into a cupboard adjoining each of the utility rooms.
The new properties have all been sold ahead of completion and the new owners will benefit from the market-leading seasonal performance of the DHP-AQ, which operates at temperatures as low as -20°C. The pump achieves this via a unique system which constantly controls and optimises three key parameters in the product: airflow (efficient variable speed EC fan), the refrigerant circuit (electronic expansion valve) and heat distribution (OPTI technology). It also includes state-of-the-art defrosting technology designed to ensure full functionality even in very cold weather.
Chris Dale, Director of Danfoss Heat Pumps UK, commented: “There has been a huge amount of interest from developers in our DHP-AQ air source heat pump since its launch last year. Today’s home buyers are increasingly aware of the need to minimise their carbon footprint, so an air source heat pump can really set a property apart from others on the market.
"Where new properties are located off the gas grid as with this development, an air source heat pump is a very green alternative.”
Danfoss Heat Pumps UK has extensive experience in the manufacture of heat pump systems for homes, schools, community buildings, developers, local authorities, housing associations and self builders.
The DHP-AQ air source heat pump range has been developed by Danfoss in Scandinavia, a world leader in heat pump technology.
