Work is underway to build a £1.7million affordable homes scheme in Blaydon, thanks to a partnership between Yuill Homes and Isos Housing.
Leading North East housebuilder Yuill Homes will deliver 15 affordable homes at its successful High View housing development off Shibdon Bank. The scheme for Isos Housing will include six new two bedroom and nine three bedroom homes for rent which will be allocated to people in the greatest housing need.
Part funded with an investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), each new home at the development will be built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 Standards helping residents to keep their energy bills affordable.
Stephen Jackson, head of partnership development at Yuill Homes, said: “There is a real demand for quality affordable housing on Tyneside. This scheme will provide a mixture of well-crafted contemporary homes to rent for the individuals and families who need them.
“We’re delighted to be working with Isos Housing on this important affordable housing scheme which forms part of our Affordable Homes Programme with the HCA to continue to provide new affordable homes in local communities over the next few years.”
Lea Smith, development and regeneration manager with Isos, added: “We are extremely pleased to have been able to secure more homes on this popular, mixed tenure development where we already have a number of residents. The addition of 15 new homes to our stock will help meet the ever increasing challenge of providing sufficient affordable homes in the region.”
Gill Hay, Area Manager at the Homes and Communities Agency, said: "It is great to see the start on these 15 new houses that will provide opportunities for local people to live where they want. We’re delighted that our investment is helping Isos to deliver these new homes where they are most needed."
