Construction intelligence providers Glenigan is backing a major independent review by the Labour Party aimed at tackling the UK housing crisis.

Glenigan will be supplying data for the Lyons Housing Review, led by Independent Housing Commission chairman Sir Michael Lyons to address issues surrounding residential construction and planning reform.

The review was commissioned by opposition leader Ed Miliband in September 2013 following his pledge to increase the supply of new homes in England above 200,000 a year by the end of the next Parliament.

Sir Michael will set out the changes to housing and planning policies required to meet this target, focusing specifically on the following five areas:

A call for evidence, which sought submissions from key organisations and individuals across the planning and housebuilding sectors, came to a close earlier this year. The full report is expected to be published in the autumn.

Robert Davis, Content Director at Glenigan, said: “Housing supply is a major issue within the construction industry and we are pleased to be supporting this review as it seeks to address the situation.

“We look forward to reading Sir Michael’s proposals when they are published later in the year and commit to supporting the industry to help drive up the supply of housing.”
