Housing organisation Midland Heart has appointed J Tomlinson on a five-year contract to replace kitchens and bathrooms in around 1,600 homes across the West Midlands.

Under the £10 million contract, J Tomlinson will install new kitchens and supply and install new bathrooms to residents in properties in Birmingham, Coventry, Stoke, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Midland Heart, which provides and maintains homes for more than 70,000 people across 55 local authority areas, is headquartered in Birmingham and is one of the leading housing groups in the country.

Pete Woods, Operations Director, at J Tomlinson, said: “J Tomlinson has worked with housing providers across the West and East Midlands for many years, and I am very pleased that our teams have been appointed to carry out refurbishments and improvements to bathrooms and kitchens for Midland Heart over a five-year period.

“This contract builds on the on-going relationship we have with Midland Heart and other housing providers to ensure that their property portfolios are maintained and regularly refurbished.”

J Tomlinson, which offers services in construction, refurbishment, repairs and maintenance, mechanical and electrical engineering, energy efficiency, renewables, fit out and facilities management, is based in Lilac Grove, Beeston, near Nottingham, and has depots across the East and West Midlands.

Carl Larter, Director of Assets at Midland Heart, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with J Tomlinson in upgrading the kitchens and bathrooms in our properties across the Midlands. We always seek to provide the best for our customers and are assured by the quality standards and excellent track record that J Tomlinson provide.”

The Midland Heart contract is one of four recent appointments in the West Midlands for the company, which has also been appointed to a four-year framework contract by Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police covering servicing, maintenance, reactive repairs and minor works. The award has a potential value of up to £9.1 million over the lifetime of the agreement.

In addition, J Tomlinson has recently been appointed on two contracts in Sutton Coldfield on the old Sutton Coldfield Conservative Club site. The first is a new 65-bed care home on the site of the old Conservative Club building for Hamberley Development and the second is a new building for Sutton Coldfield Conservative Club at the rear of the site. The new building is also the home of Boldmere Tennis Club and Boldmere Bowls Club. Both contracts are being constructed concurrently on the same site with a combined value of approximately £6 million.

“Recently J Tomlinson was proud to have been named in Deloitte’s Businesses Leading Britain 2014 report, which provides insights into the UK’s 1,000 fastest-growing businesses with annual revenues between £30 million and £1 billion. These four West Midlands contracts represent significant appointments for us as we continue our expansion, and cement our position as a key player,” added Pete Woods.
