Mitsubishi Electric’s pioneering approach to product innovation has been recognised with two Awards at a prestigious air conditioning and heat pump industry event.
The company’s innovative use of aluminium in the heat exchanger of the new City Multi YLM air conditioning system secured the Air Conditioning or Heat Pump Innovation of the Year 2015 category at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2015.
The judges felt that with the headline change in the world-first use in a VRF of an aluminium heat exchanger, wringing weight efficiencies and enabling 26 per cent more refrigerant contact than predecessors deserved recognition.
“At the same time the manufacturer has sought to prioritise seasonal efficiency and reduce refrigerant volume”, they explained in the Awards Programme.
New for this year’s event was the category recognising the growth in heat pump technology beyond the air conditioning industry and Mitsubishi Electric was once again successful, picking up the Award for the Heat Pump Product of the Year 2015 for its Ecodan FTC5 range of air source heat pumps.
“Although this product is evolution rather than revolution in terms of performance, it clearly shows major advancement in the field of usability and maintenance for both the owner and the installer and demonstrates the overall system efficiency improvements”, commented the judges.
They also liked the provision of monitoring and metering which allows customers to view energy consumption in terms of cost, as well as allowing installers to interrogate remotely, thus reducing or even avoiding call outs.
