Travis Perkins has provided an innovative range of services and materials, in addition to utilising expertise from six other Travis Perkins Group brands, to support the £1.5 million conversion and renovation of Little Halden Oast House in Rolvenden.

Following the fantastic partnership between Travis Perkins and the contractor S. Harlow Period Oak, the Grade II listed Oast House was awarded the ‘Best Domestic Dwelling 2012’ by Ashford Borough Council.

The title, which was announced at the Building Construction Awards, recognises the high standards of construction and workmanship which are apparent on the project.

Ninety per cent of all materials, including bathroom suites, shower units, insulation and timber, were supplied by Travis Perkins via its key accounts team. By drawing on the skills and products available through other Travis Perkins Group brands including CCF, Benchmarx and Tile Giant, the leading merchant was also able to provide a complete product package, all from a single source. The specialist ‘Hire It’ service, which is available at nationwide Travis Perkins locations, was also utilised to supply fully health and safety compliant diggers, dumpers, genie lifts and off road fork lift trucks.

Shaun Harlow, owner of Harlow Period Oak and principal contractor, said: “The breadth of the Travis Perkins product portfolio was a huge asset to this project, not to mention the unrivalled ability of the key accounts team to draw on ranges from other companies within the Group. Having all project requirements delivered from a single source, in addition to the support and advice available through the Aylesford and Ashford branches, has laid the blueprint for all future projects.”

Jaime Foster, Key Accounts Executive at Travis Perkins, added: “To have played a part in this award winning project has been a great experience – it’s a prime example of the strength of the Travis Perkins brand and the extended services that can be provided to meet a broad set of requirements.

“This project was such a success that we are now currently working as the sole supplier to Harlow Period Oak on a new £3 million self build project - we’re incredibly excited to be working with Shaun again and looking forward to seeing the result of this new development.”
