Architectural systems specialist, DML Group, has created a platform for success with a £316,000 project at Tottenham Court Road station.

The Leeds-based company was appointed to Transport for London’s (TfL) major tube station re-development scheme by Taylor Woodrow BAM Nuttall (TWBN), who are the joint main contractors.

DML is providing a new façade for the Oxford Street entrance along with glazing and stainless steel cladding for the £half-billion scheme, which will expand and modernise the tube station by September 2016. A new Crossrail station, with services operational by 2018, takes the transport infrastructure investment here to more than £1 billion.

The scheme, which aims to improve one of the busiest parts of London's transport network, will also have a public plaza outside Centre Point with wider pavements, better cycling facilities and improvements to bus services.

Chris Usher, project director for TWBN, said: “The transformation of Tottenham Court Road Station is a complex and challenging project. The success of the project to date has been built upon collaboration and teamwork by London Underground, TWBN and all our supply chain partners including specialist suppliers such as DML.”

Chris Murray, sales and marketing director, DML Group, said: “This is one of the country’s leading transport schemes as well as being part of a major transformation of the east end of Oxford Street, so to have been appointed is particularly rewarding.

“DML has become widely recognised for its expertise in this type of large-scale project and we’re looking forward to working on this highly prominent scheme.”

The DML Group has two divisions: Drawn Metal, which provides bespoke metalwork and shopfronts and whose clients include some of the world’s leading brands; and DML Architectural Systems, which specialises in external facades, cladding, windows and unitised curtain walling and is a preferred supplier for several of the UK’s largest main contractors.

The company offers a total capability façade solution from design and build to bespoke entrances, whether clients are seeking a specialised ‘one-off’ requirement or a comprehensive, conception-to-completion, full turn-key provision.
