FM Conway has been awarded a £2 million contract to carry out surfacing works for the London Borough of Wandsworth. The contract comprises both the Carriageway Resurfacing and Ancillary Works and Carriageway Bases and Ancillary Works contracts.

FM Conway will deliver a range of highways improvement works including the planing, resurfacing and patching of the existing carriageways within the Borough and the installation of traffic calming measures, including humps, cushions and entry treatments.

The company will also deliver all associated ancillary works, such as footway resurfacing, repair and installation of drainage and kerbing, and all lining works.

FM Conway secured the contract through a competitive tender process. The company previously held the Carriageway Bases and Ancillary Works contract during 2011. FM Conway was selected on the basis of its established working relationship with Wandsworth Council and the cost effective offer of its self delivery model.

Nick Burman, Surfacing Director at FM Conway, said: “It’s fantastic news for FM Conway that we have retained our existing contract with Wandsworth Council and extended our remit to hold the Carriageway Resurfacing and Ancillary Works contract. We are delighted to have secured both contracts once again.”

FM Conway intends to use its Enviro range of asphalt base and binder products to help Wandsworth Council to increase its sustainability record.

The Enviro range is an environmentally conscious range of asphalt products, which are manufactured at FM Conway’s Erith-based asphalt plant, and incorporate a high percentage of recycled materials. These products dramatically reduce the embodied carbon compared to primary aggregates by at least 15%.

FM Conway’s contract with Wandsworth Council will run to September 2013.
