A major new development in Qatar which will be home to three hospitals is being installed with the acclaimed ENSIGN-S above ground drainage systems from iron technology leader Saint-Gobain PAM, part of leading materials company Saint-Gobain.
The construction and development of the SIDRA Medical and Research Centre in Qatar is a combination of three hospitals in one location. The first treats children, the second is a women’s hospital and the third deals with adult acute care.
Saint-Gobain PAM’s ENSIGN system was selected as the favoured pipework for the project thanks to its efficient and quiet operation. 112km of pipework is being supplied, ranging in size from DN50 to DN300.
The Medical Centre had specific performance requirements for its drainage system, in the areas of fire safety and acoustics. The ENSIGN system excels in both of these areas - cast iron is non-flammable material, while the products is fitted with noise insulation dampeners, which clip round the pipework at equal stages. This keeps vibrations to a minimum.
Laurent de Braquilanges of Saint-Gobain PAM said, “This contract further endorses ENSIGN as the leading above and below ground solution on the market. ENSIGN is the only drainage system which is kitemark approved to BS EN 877. It offers contractors and installers a fit-and-forget system which outperforms all rival materials. Furthermore, it combines all the proven material properties of cast iron, which are unmatched in terms of fire resistance and acoustic qualities.”
