The Managed Services team of Travis Perkins Group has been appointed by Northampton Borough Council as the sole supplier to its Direct Labour Organisation for repair and maintenance materials.

To service the contract, Travis Perkins is creating a dedicated store at its Harvey Reeves road site in Northampton. The store will be manned by six staff who will procure, stock, deliver and administer a wide range of materials to facilitate the repair and maintenance of 12,200 properties and 750 corporate buildings owned by the council.

The tender was advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union and the award was based on a combination of price and quality measures. Travis Perkins Managed Services submitted the best tender and were awarded the contract to start on 1 April 2013.

James Clack, Sales Director of Travis Perkins Managed Services, said: “To be appointed as the sole provider of building materials to Northampton Borough Council is testament to the trusted service and high quality products that the Travis Perkins Group has to offer. This project is especially exciting as Travis Perkins has its headquarters in Northampton.”

Councillor Mary Markham, Cabinet member for housing at Northampton Borough Council, said: “We need to make sure that we provide value for money and the best quality services for our customers including local housing tenants. Travis Perkins Group is based locally in Northampton and by outsourcing our repair and maintenance supplies we can reduce costs.”

The Managed Services division uses its in-depth knowledge and the expertise of the specialist business within the Travis Perkins Group to deliver bespoke solutions to the public sector and its partners.
