A Balfour Beatty joint venture with South West Highways (SWHBBIS) has been awarded a £40 million ten-year extension to its existing contract to deliver operations and maintenance (O&M) activities on the 102 km A30/A35 Exeter to Bere Regis trunk road on behalf of Connect Roads, for ultimate customer Highways England.
The SWHBBIS joint venture was appointed as the operations and maintenance contractor for this stretch of trunk road in 1996.
In 2006 the joint venture was re-appointed to deliver a contract with enhanced service delivery management responsibilities.
The joint venture has continued to build a strong relationship with Connect Roads, demonstrating added value and cost efficiency in its core activities of emergency response, winter and routine maintenance, and the delivery of significant life-cycle works including resurfacing over 400,000m2 of the trunk road.
David May, SWHBBIS Project Manager, said: “The extension of our existing contract to 2026 is a clear testament to the hard work and commitment of our twenty strong site team over the past years.
"We look forward to continuing to provide further value to Connect Roads, Highways England and the 25,000 road-users who use this section of the route every day."
The contract extension will commence on October 1 2016 and run to September 30 2026.
