The new Chancellors Court roof top garden, part of the University of Leeds has recently been completed and declared a success by its Landscape Architect.

Martin Woolley explained: "One of our major challenges was finding a suitable top soil product that was light enough for a roof garden. Green-tree’s bespoke lightweight soil mix was the perfect solution to this problem.”

The project involved creating a sustainable roof top garden for the Chancellors Court, part of the University of Leeds. As it was a roof top garden, soil was an issue for the architects. They needed soil that was light in weight but also nutrient-rich to ensure successful growth.

Green-tech were able to provide the perfect solution – a bespoke soil mix which was very light and had a high nutrient content. The topsoil is a highly fertile and organic-rich material, compliant to BS 3882:2007 standards. It does not require any additional fertiliser for the first season.

Green-tech’s Technical Sales Advisor Nigel Thompson commented: “The topsoil manufacturing process means the product is of consistent quality and is available all year round. Green-tree Topsoil is perfect for landscaping and construction projects that are focused on their own green credentials.

"Our advice, site visits and delivery of bespoke Green-tree Topsoil is just what was needed for this project to be successful. The high fertility status of the topsoil means it was perfect for the Chancellors Court roof garden where quick plant establishment and quality finish was demanded.”
