Worcester, Bosch Group has launched a brand new boiler flue gas heat recovery unit, designed to help housebuilders and public sector providers, achieve the best possible hot water efficiency levels.
The Greenstar Xtra unit connects directly to the flue of the boiler and uses a highly efficient plate heat exchanger, to extract residual energy from waste gases. This energy is then used to pre-warm the incoming mains water which feeds the combi boiler – reducing the overall amount of gas required to heat the water to the required temperature.
Developed to help properties achieve highest possible SAP ratings, the unit not only limits gas consumption and CO2 emissions, it also helps to reduce utility bills by delivering added hot water efficiency.
The compact design of the Greenstar Xtra ensures ease of siting and the flue options of both 60/100mm and 100/125mm diameters result in flexible installation options for installers. In addition, and unlike other heat recovery systems, the unit does not require a blending valve or an additional mounting plate meaning that the time taken to fit the device, and the associated labour costs, are kept to a minimum.
Available now, the Greenstar Xtra replaces Worcester’s Greenstar Ecoflo, and is compatible with the Greenstar i, Greenstar Si and Greenstar CDi compact combi boilers.
Martyn Bridges, Director of Marketing and Technical Support commented: “The new build sector is under increasing pressure to minimise emissions and boost energy efficiency, so a concept like flue gas heat recovery will grow in stature over the years to come.
"By harnessing energy which is often wasted, the new Greenstar Xtra allows properties to achieve a much higher efficiency – without the need to install more costly renewable technologies or large amounts of insulation.”
