Smarter wastewater design starts here - the DrainMajor 730HES

Modern commercial buildings place increasingly complex demands on building services engineers.

Commercial kitchens are operating at higher temperatures, dishwashing equipment runs near-constantly, and the specification of drainage systems must accommodate all of this without compromising the wider building design.

The challenge is particularly acute when gravity drainage is either impractical or structurally costly to achieve.

The DrainMajor 730HES, powered by Jung Pumpen and distributed in the UK by Pump Technology Ltd, addresses this challenge directly. It is a fully packaged above floor wastewater pumping system designed to collect and pump wastewater from commercial sinks, dishwashers, glass washers, combination ovens, and utility appliances - routing discharge to the drainage system where gravity drainage is unavailable or not viable.

At its core, the DrainMajor 730HES is built around a 60-litre polyethylene tank engineered to perform in the most demanding commercial environments. Its standout technical capability is the ability to handle wastewater temperatures up to 90°C, making it directly compatible with commercial combination ovens, Zip taps, and high-temperature dishwashers - equipment that is standard specification in modern commercial kitchens, hotel facilities, and corporate food service environments.

The pump discharges vertically to 8 metres, handles solids up to 30mm, and is rated for continuous operation, which is critical where high-volume wastewater generation is a daily reality.

For consultants and specifiers, the DrainMajor 730HES delivers clear advantages at the design stage. The low-level float technology enables installation at lower invert levels, significantly reducing the need for expensive excavation or structural alteration. This is particularly valuable on refurbishment projects or constrained sites where breaking out the floor slab is not a viable option.

Specifying the DrainMajor 730HES early in the design process gives engineers far greater flexibility over drainage layouts and service routing without compromising the build programme.

The unit arrives as a complete, ready-to-install package, simplifying procurement and reducing the number of interfaces during installation. Each unit can be configured to suit individual pipe layouts, allowing specifiers to adapt the system to a wide range of installation scenarios without the need for bespoke engineering solutions. This is a packaged solution that has been designed to work from day one, on site and in the long term.

Maintenance considerations have been integrated into the design from the outset. The smooth internal tank profile limits the build-up of fats, oils, grease, and solids, reducing blockage risk and maintenance frequency. Tool-free lid access via thumb screws allows fast inspection and servicing in confined spaces without specialist tools, reducing labour time and minimising disruption to the facility during service visits.

Union fittings on the internal pipework support this further, enabling rapid pump removal for cleaning or replacement with minimal system downtime.

From a sustainability perspective, the DrainMajor 730HES aligns with low-carbon and circular-economy design objectives. The polyethylene tank is lightweight, durable, and widely recyclable. The uPVC pipework is 100% recyclable and re-processable multiple times without loss of structural integrity.

For projects carrying BREEAM targets or environmental accreditation requirements, these material credentials are worth considering at the specification stage.

BIM support is available for the DrainMajor range, with 3D models downloadable directly from the Pump Technology Ltd website, enabling straightforward integration into design workflows without the need for custom modelling.

Pump Technology Ltd has been the authorised UK distributor for Jung Pumpen for over 30 years and holds the largest stock of Jung products in the UK. The dedicated Jung Pumpen division provides specification support, technical datasheets, and expert guidance to public health engineers, mechanical design consultants, and M&E contractors across the country.

For project teams specifying wastewater management solutions in commercial kitchens, hospitality venues, corporate offices, or healthcare environments, the DrainMajor 730HES is a technically robust and specification-ready solution that removes design constraints and reduces long-term maintenance risk.
