Housing and low rise development ground beam supplier and manufacturer, Stent House Foundations, has been awarded its largest ever contract with a £1.3 million development for Strata Homes in Hull.

The Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering joint venture with GKPS will provide a full design and build package of piles and ground beams for approximately 235 new homes on a residential development in Boothferry Park at the former home of Hull City Football Club.

The ground beam system for the Hull development will be manufactured at the Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering precast pile factory in Nottinghamshire, the largest driven pile factory in the UK.

Market leading, sustainable manufacturing methods will be used in the production process with beams consisting of 99% recycled steel and 25% cement replacement.

Accommodation built during the initial phase of the development is already fully occupied, with the final phases due for completion in 2014.

Mark Rosindale, Group Commercial Director at Strata Homes, said: “We have worked with Stent House Foundations a number of times and we have been really impressed with the quality of their system, their commitment to health and safety and their approach to working with our team and it made sense to continue our relationship with them for this project.”

Malcolm O’Sullivan, Managing Director, Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering, said: “We are high quality providers of precast ground-beam packages and have been growing our place in the housing and low rise development market.

“This contract is our largest ever at £1.3 million and we look forward to delivering on our reputation for delivery, quality and safety for Strata Homes.”
