Hanson Formpave’s Aquasett skid resistant permeable paving has been used in Croudace Homes’ Cherry Tree Grove development, in Hemel Hempstead.

Part of the development is located on a slope and Hertfordshire County Council required that high skid resistance block paving was used. Croudace Homes chose Hanson Formpave’s paving to meet the council’s criteria.

The skid resistance value of concrete block paving is normally measured as the unpolished skid resistance value (USRV). With a standard finish block surface the USRV has a value of 66. Formpave’s skid resistant paving is bush hammered – which increases the resistance to 82 USRV, giving a much better performing block in terms of resistance to slip and skid.

In total, over 2,000 square metres of Hanson Formpave’s paving was specified – 513 square metres of which was skid resistant blocks. The paving was also permeable and incorporated the company’s Sustainable Urban Drainage (SUDS), which helps prevent flooding and is perfect for large public paved areas.

Hanson Formpave, head of design John Lloyd, said: “We offer a large range of paving options and our technical expertise and comprehensive design service means we are able to offer a bespoke solution to suit all requirements.”
