Record sales for leading building boards manufacturer Fermacell in the UK are leading to a ramp-up of production in several of the group's factories.
The UK sales operation of Europe's largest supplier of gypsum fibre board marked a record increase in m2 volume in 2015 over 2014 due to an optimum mix of factors.
The success was built on several key high-profile projects including Great Ormond Street Hospital, an increasing use of fermacell boards in rainscreen applications, and the on-going take-up of Powerpanel H2O in external wall render applications. In addition, the number of builders' merchants stocking fermacell as a cost-effective tile backer solution now numbers more than 400.
This growth in demand for fermacell products means the group is now ramping up production at its existing factories in Germany and The Netherlands and its newest factory in Spain where employees are working hard to keep up with orders and ensure there is plenty of capacity to draw on.
Back home, the Fermacell team will also be moving to larger premises and launching some new products to the UK market.
UK general manager Gary Carter said: "We had a very good year in 2015, building even further on growth over the past few years. Sales were a record for the UK by a significant amount and with an expanded sales team led by Matt Challenger we are setting ambitious growth targets for 2016 and beyond."
