Dow Building Solutions’ XPS solutions have been specified for buildings at the Royal Wharf development in London.

The multi-phase reshaping of the 40-acre site will include over 3,300 homes, shops, and other amenities, building on the transformative regeneration efforts in East London surrounding the London 2012 Olympics.

A total of 34000sqm of XENERGY SL 160mm and XENERGY MK is being supplied over two development phases to the main roofing contractor Turners. Dow will be deploying its extensive product knowledge to provide assistance during all stages of the design process, ensuring that the benefits of XENERGY SL are realised.

Dow’s XENERGY SL product is endorsed by the British Board of Agrément (BBA), which provides a recognised symbol of quality and reassurance for the construction industry. This mark provides reassurance of the products of quality, safety and reliability, and provides designers and specifiers with independent data on performance, assuring them that Dow’s insulation products will perform as described if installed in accordance with the guidance set out in the certificate.

XENERGY SL is a flame-retarded, XPS roof insulation product, which achieves significantly improved lambda insulation performance delivering a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than five. It is also the first XPS to attain the coveted BRE Green Guide Rating A+, meaning that it can help the buildings at Royal Wharf achieve a better BREAAM rating due to its superior performance.

Henry Bareham, New Build Director, Alumasc said: “Royal Wharf is a huge development and we are confident Dow’s products will provide a consistently high performance, in line with our client’s requirements. This confidence is reinforced by recognised industry schemes including BBA certificates and exceptional BRE Green Guide Ratings.”

Richard Powell, Sales Manager, Dow Building Solutions, said: “This landmark development is the largest single project that Dow have worked on in the UK. Royal Wharf will continue to build on the Olympic legacy in East London, and we are proud to be providing the product knowledge and expertise of our technical team to assist with the design process of this landmark project. Our XENERGY products can allow architects to push aesthetic boundaries to new limits while delivering exceptional environmental performance.”
