Lincolnshire-based renewable energy products distributor Eco Building Products (www.eco-building-products.co.uk) has installed an electric vehicle charging point from Chargemaster (www.chargemasterplc.com) at a new home in Oakham.
Eco Building Products is promoting charging points with the help of government initiative Cenex (www.cenex.co.uk). Grants of 40 per cent of the cost of the installation are available to customers in the East Midlands to part-fund each charging point.
Eco Building Products’ latest charging point is located at the show home on Leighfield Park, the first phase of Oakham Heights, amajor urban expansion of Oakham located on land between the Oakham bypass and Barleythorpe Road. Oakham Heights is being developed by Larkfleet Homes (www.larkfleethomes.co.uk).
Eco Building Products is a leading supplier of alternative energy technologies, insulation materials and other products aimed at making new and existing buildings and developments ‘greener’.
Ian Greenfield, operations director at Eco Building Products, said: “The EV charging point at Leighfield Park is just the first in a network of charging points around Rutland and Lincolnshire.
“We are now an official Chargemaster distributor and we are keen to deliver installations for developers and commercial property including golf courses, country clubs and pub and hotel car parks throughout the region. We have secured funding through the Cenex Plugged-in Midlands initiative which will cover 40 per cent of the cost of each installation.
“By increasing the number of charging points in the network we will be helping to promote the use of electric vehicles in the region.
“Pubs, clubs and other places which install these charging points will attract customers who can charge their vehicles while using the facilities.”
Chargemaster EV charging points are safe and easy to use. They are connected by GPRS real time to a back office management system that provides a real time map showing availability – so drivers can see on their satellite navigation screens where the nearest charging points are located and which of them are in use. Access to the charging points is controlled by RFID card or key switch. Metering which allows management reporting and integration is included, as is a maintenance and fault log.
Post-mounted units for commercial applications or wall-mounted units for use in the home are available. Charging rates vary from 3 kW to 43 kW.
Ian Greenfield added: “We have joined forces with Chargemaster and Cenex to further enhance our ability to supply the best in renewable energy products to our customers.
“Eco Building Products is committed to providing the best range of quality renewable energy products available to the trade in this region. Our partnerships with Chargemaster and Cenex will help us to achieve that.”
