Forticrete has taken home three accolades, including the prestigious ‘Sustainability’ award at the 2014 British Precast Best Practice Awards held on Thursday 1st May.
Forticrete was presented with the award for ‘Sustainability’ for its energy reduction efforts at its Cebastone cast stone factory in Ibstock, Leicester. The result follows the installation of a new efficient lighting system that guarantees to cut energy consumption by up to 69%. The judging panel commented: “Excellent entry. This is a very thoughtful approach targeting energy efficiency which can be applied to all British Precast members. The employees were clearly deeply involved in the process and are now turning into experts in the company. This is exactly the spirit of the award.”
Forticrete was also presented with the Gold award for Health and Safety Improvements for the second year running, acknowledging Forticrete’s continual improvement in the fields of behavioural, physical and occupational safety. The accolade came with a prestigious Red Seal, which highlights the organisation’s success in reducing the number of accidents throughout its workforce in line with the British Precast’s Concrete Targets Scheme (CT2015) over the past 12 months.
To cap off an already successful day, Forticrete was Highly Commended in the ‘Project’ category for the Robinson Court development, at Audley St. Elphin’s Park. The project was completed using Forticrete’s high performance Cast Stone blocks in three bespoke colours and a unique texture in order to seamlessly replicate the existing natural stone finish of St Elphin’s House, the centrepiece of the Derbyshire-based luxury retirement village.
John Lambert, general manager at Forticrete, commented: “To have been recognised so extensively in all of these areas is extremely rewarding given the significant time and effort everyone has invested across the business to not only ensure we are meeting targets, but surpassing them year on year in sustainability, safety and delivering project quality.”
