Jablite launches a site collection recycling scheme for customers today.

This new recycling offer is built up on the experience gained conducting a pilot scheme with Willmott Dixon, explains UK Sales Manager, Simon Cox: “Our innovations team worked with Willmott Dixon on a Passivhaus project being delivered for Camden Council.

“Willmott Dixon has a zero-to-landfill target and they approached us at an early stage in the project planning to see if the cut-offs from the installation process could be recycled.

“We were pleased for the opportunity to work with them on this. It has proved to be a useful learning process putting us in a position to confidently launch our own recycling scheme,” adds Simon.

To keep the small site tidy and to minimise the space taken up storing the material, the Jablite Innovations team provided lightweight, hooded, branded Jablite bags. The installers could pull these bags around with them and put the cut offs straight into them as they worked.

“This ensured the material was kept clean and could be recycled back into new insulation board,” explains Simon. The team also set up a system where bags would be provided on the first delivery and, set a target that only return loads would be used to carry the recycling bags back to Jablite.

“We wanted to make sure that we minimise the environmental impact and keep the scheme economically viable for us and for our customers,” explains Simon. The lessons learnt from this trial recycling scheme have been captured in a WRAP case study to benefit other construction suppliers to building sites.
