Polypipe Terrain is part of a nationwide search to find UK organisations which excel in saving water as one of the sponsors of the 6th Water Efficiency Awards .
The UK’s leading plastic piping systems manufacturer is backing the Built Environment category, which recognises projects making use of proven water efficiency technologies. Hosted by the Environment Agency and Waterwise, the Water Efficiency Awards celebrate the achievements of public, private and not-for profit organisations which contribute to making the UK more water efficient.
UK businesses currently use around 9.8 billion cubic litres of water every day, but estimates show this could be reduced by one third, which would save a staggering £10 million every day.
Adam Turk, Commercial Director at Polypipe Terrain, said: “As manufacturers of a wide range of water-saving, reuse and storage systems, water efficiency is at the very heart of what we do. We are delighted to lend our support to this year’s Water Efficiency Awards and look forward to learning more about the many great projects taking place around the UK to reduce our water consumption.”
Ian Barker, Head of Land and Water at the Environment Agency, added: “We know that in the future climate change and population growth will increase the pressure on water availability – and droughts could become more frequent, so taking steps to be water efficient now will help to future proof businesses, and keep them competitive.”
Entrants have until June 30th to submit their free applications. The Awards Ceremony will be held at the House of Lords on Monday 17 September 2012.
