Knauf Insulation has secured an agreement with the National Buying Group (NBG) to supply its Earthwool glass mineral wool throughout 2013 and 2014.

Consisting of 87 partner companies across 267 outlets, the NBG is an independent group of privately owned builders’ merchants based throughout the UK.

NBG member companies stock and distribute a wide range of well-known building product brands, with the aim of offering customers the best service, quality and value, both locally and nationally.

Under the agreement, Knauf Insulation will supply the NBG with a number of products from its Earthwool range of glass mineral wool, including Earthwool Loft Roll, Earthwool DriTherm Cavity Slab and Earthwool Flexible Slab.

Alan Boyd, Managing Director of Otford Builders Merchants and team leader for NBG insulation, commented: “The relationships we forge with our suppliers are of huge importance to us at NBG.  Many factors are considered before selecting a new supplier, but once that selection is made the group makes a commitment to volume purchases for a contracted period. One of our main reasons for choosing Knauf Insulation was the quality of the product and strength of the brand, enabling us to offer a market leading product at competitive prices.”

Knauf Insulation has been supplying smaller quantities of its rock mineral wool products to a selection of NBG outlets for several months, and the new agreement builds on this relationship. Impressed by the quality of Knauf Insulation’s products and its understanding of the NBG members’ needs, the group signed off the glass mineral wool supply contract, which will run from 1st April 2013 until December 2014.

David Adams, Knauf Insulation Commercial Director, commented: “At Knauf Insulation we highly value the strong relationship we have built up with our merchant customers and this new supply agreement comes as part of a dedicated programme of work to constantly improve and develop this offering.  We have invested significant effort into researching the needs of our merchant customers, concentrating particularly on tailoring our product lines and services to more closely match their requirements.

“For example, as the Green Deal drives the sustainable retrofit market forward, contractors are taking on a much wider variety of work – and their product requirements are similarly evolving.  So while we recognise that loft and cavity wall solutions remain important product lines, we are also able to provide a comprehensive product portfolio over and above these, demonstrating the added value we can provide our merchant customers.”
