Polypipe Ventilation’s Domus rigid duct and unique Domus Thermal duct insulation systems are being installed into an exciting new mixed use development in Southampton’s marina which aims to provide the city with a world class waterfront destination.

Admiral’s Quay, Ocean Village features a landmark 26 storey predominantly glass residential tower and supporting 16 and 9 storey residential buildings; incorporating a public landscaped terrace between the first two buildings.

All of the one, two and three bedroom apartments have very high specification throughout and as an integral part of the ventilation system, feature Polypipe’s market leading range of Domus Supertube 125mm rectangular ducting.

Domus Supertube is a highly engineered flat channel ducting system, which as with all Domus duct products, is manufactured to exacting tolerances, which virtually eliminates air leakage and minimises the pressure drop associated with ducting systems.

In the case of Admiral’s Quay Ocean Village, the low profile rectangular ducting is being used in conjunction with Domus FireBrake fire-stopping connectors to prevent any potential spread of fire through the ventilation duct systems, in addition to Domus Thermal, a patented insulation system designed to prevent the build-up of condensation and mould within rigid ducting.

Engineered to comply with 2010 Building Regulations, Domus Thermal products consist of two moulded halves that fit snugly around the ducting and simply lock into place using a moulded interlocking feature.  It has high insulative properties yet remains a cost-effective and simple duct insulation solution.

Polypipe Ventilation is at the forefront in delivering energy-efficient ventilation solutions and plays a vital role in helping customers to achieve the higher levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

In addition to their Domus duct systems, the company also offers a complete range of Silavent Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) appliances, Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) appliances and intermittent extract fans; making for a single source of all domestic and light commercial ventilation products and systems.
