IVC Group, the world’s largest vinyl flooring manufacturer, has overhauled its Moduleo sample packaging and launched new branded cardboard envelopes to further demonstrate its strong eco credentials.

The Kraftpak envelopes are fully biodegradable, compostable and recyclable and have the capacity to hold up to six samples of Moduleo’s stone- and wood-effect floorcoverings, as well as marketing material(s).

Made from 100 per cent unbleached virgin Kraft fibre, the cardboard envelopes have high burst and tear strength and are naturally moisture-resistant and are a sustainable solution to Moduleo’s former plastic sleeves.

IVC Group is committed to green manufacturing and all flooring is produced in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art factory in Belgium. It contains up to 50 per cent recycled materials and is itself recyclable.

The 21,000 sq ft facility, which is projected to produce 15m sqm annually and is in operation 24/7, utilises sustainable energy from self-erected wind turbines and uses water from the Scheldt River in the manufacturing process. In addition, all factory waste is recycled and recused in the production process.

David Bigland, managing director of IVC Group UK & Eire, explains: “We pride ourselves on our strong eco-credentials, so having plastic packaging didn’t sit right with us and was something we had to change.

“The cardboard envelopes are a much better fit with the IVC Group brand because they demonstrate our ambitions to be a responsible manufacturer and also align better with Moduleo’s design credentials, so we’re really pleased that they’re now in circulation.”

During Moduleo’s five years in business, since it launched in 2012, it has recycled more than 75,000 tonnes of vinyl, equal to the weight of 7.5 Eiffel Towers and generated 13.3 GWh per year in energy – the equivalent consumption of 2,000 households.
