A magic solution from Oscar Acoustics

Oscar Acoustics’ SonaSpray K-13 in black was specified by Hoare Lea Acoustics for the recently opened Harry Potter Experience and new/refurbished Warner Bros Film Studios in Leavesden near Watford.

In total, 35,000m2 of SonaSpray K-13 was applied directly to the metal profile deck to control reverberation within the studios, but also to reduce rain noise levels to optimal recording levels.

Oscar Acoustics were asked to provide 20 sample pieces of K-13 sprayed onto metal deck. These were then taken away to an independent testing facility.

Following the results, a depth of 16mm was specified. Applying SonaSpray K-13 in black meant that the soffit did not need decorating following the application and could also help to control light.

At the height of the project, two in-house fully trained Oscar teams were applying around 4,500m2 per week helping main contractor Bower & Kirkland meet important deadlines. The new facility was opened on time and is attracting millions of visitors from all over the world.

When Warner Bros. finally decide to close the Harry Potter Experience, the plan is for the buildings to be used as part of their film recording facility.

With the SonaSpray K-13 already in place for the Harry Potter Experience customers to enjoy, the buildings will require few changes to make them filming ready.
