AKW, in conjunction with industry partner APHC Ltd, has launched its new Wet Room Design and Installation in Domestic Premises training course.
The course is aimed at installers who want to learn how to design and install a wet room environment in the bathroom. Typically a highly-specified design for those requiring assisted living, the wet room is becoming an increasingly popular design for the luxury bathroom market.
Following completion of the course, candidates can promote themselves through manufacturers and local authorities to tender for work where assisted living is a requirement.
Keith Jobson, of AKW, commented: “We are delighted to be working with APHC to pass on the skills and insight we have gained over the past 25 years of designing and manufacturing wet room formers and screens.
“The luxury wet room is a rapidly growing market for us, and, as the UK’s ageing population continues to increase, sales of wet rooms designed for those requiring extra help in the bathroom are growing too.
“As a result, we have added a short module to the wet room course that deals specifically with design considerations for those with reduced mobility, detailing considerations such as the correct positioning of shower seats and grab rails and how to ensure easy access to raised height toilets.”
The course will cost £150 for APHC members (£200 for non-members).
