Utilising the technical design service from Marley Plumbing & Drainage has enabled United House to make significant savings in materials and labour costs on a multiple occupancy new build in Tottenham Hale. Marley's expert team was able to provide a solution that rationalised the number of soil stacks, reducing roof penetrations by 20 and requiring 35% less pipework.
United House is constructing 388 housing units for the Hale Village development on behalf of Newlon Housing.
Faced with an initially complex public health system design, contracts manager Jerel Haffenden tasked Marley with revisiting the soil and waste layout on a ten-storey block to simplify the installation and reduce costs.
Said Nigel Ward, Senior Site Manager at United House: "Marley's technical team was able to advise on bathroom and kitchen layouts and the use of AAVs (Air Admittance Valves) in line with legislative requirements to achieve a design that was easier to install, used less materials and necessitated less ancillary work such as roof and floor penetrations, set-out steel work, fire protection and 'boxing in'.
"The design meant significant cost savings and a much faster first fix."
