A.O. Smith has supplied a range of equipment to meet hot water and heating demand at ASDA's brand new 38,000 square-foot store in Lidget Green, Bradford.
A BFC Cyclone water heater was installed together with an ITS indirect tank and one of A.O. Smith's Epsilon boilers to provide hot water and heating for the toilets, canteen and bakery areas within the store.
Consultants Dave Dickinson Associates specified the A.O. Smith products based on their reputation for product quality and service, and they were installed by Yorkshire Building Services.
The BFC Cyclone is well established as a high efficiency condensing water heater (97% gross), with flexible flue options up to 100m which allow it to be sited almost anywhere. It comes with an automatic gas/air premix, fully modulating burner and low-maintenance powered anodes. It also has low NOx emissions and whisper quiet operation. Water temperatures can be programmed between 40°C to 80°C and there is a legionella purge cycle.
The ITS indirect tank used as part of the ASDA installation comes in a range of sizes from 289 to 1007 litres. It can also be used as part of a solar water heating system, and features single wall spiral heat exchangers and is glass lined to prevent corrosion. The insulated access door allows easy maintenance, and it comes with a replaceable magnesium anode and the insulation jacket is removable for easy servicing.
A.O. Smith's Epsilon boiler is part of a range of gas fired condensing boilers launched within the last two years, and features low carbon emission technology. It comes in a choice of two models with either 38kW or 51kW output and is ideal for medium sized commercial or large residential applications. Thanks to the premix and modulating burner technology, the Epsilon has very low gas consumption. In addition, a choice of concentric and parallel flue options for maximum siting versatility.
