CA Group has today announced that it has achieved ISO 14001 accreditation for the design, manufacture, supply and installation of its metal roofing and cladding systems and the associated components.
This BSI (British Standards Institution) accreditation, which represents the environmental management system standard, demonstrates the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and decreasing the amount of pollution and waste produced as a result of its manufacturing and installation processes. It also serves to highlight CA Group’s on-going commitment to providing high quality, innovative and energy efficient performance-driven products.
Peter Donohue, Health, Safety and Environment Manager, CA Group explained: “Working in partnership with our customers and supply chain, we are fully committed to incorporating energy saving features, where possible, into the manufacturing and installation process, as well as reducing the carbon footprint in our designs and in the manufacture of our products.
“We are continually striving to reduce site energy usage across all our operations as demonstrated by the recent installation of a Varmatic Lightmaster (Voltage Optimization Unit), within our profiles manufacturing facility. The unit automatically controls workplace lighting, resulting in a monitored energy reduction of 34,000kWh per annum, which is equal to 14.6tCO2.
“Two separate SolarWall® Transpired Solar Collectors on site have also effectively reduced our gas usage by as much as 62% helping to save a further 600,000kWh or 110.4tCO2 per year. In addition, we are successfully demonstrating a significant reduction in the amount of waste sent to landfill, year-on-year.”
The company’s day-to-day processes are continually monitored by specially-trained, internal staff, not only to meet legislative requirements but because of the company’s commitment to adopting a sustainable approach to the way it operates.

As well as ISO 14001 accreditation, CA Group also holds the BSI’s ISO 9001 certificate in Quality Management Systems.
