A total of 95 of the UK’s leading construction managers have been shortlisted to compete at the Chartered Institute of Building’s (CIOB) Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA) at this year’s grand final in October.
Finalists are drawn from a diverse mixture of projects from new build and refurbishment below £2 million to large scale projects over £80 million. Gold and silver medals are awarded across 11 categories before an overall winner is announced from the 11 gold medallists.
Winners are announced following a rigorous selection process by top industry judges, drawn from Fellows and Members of the CIOB. It takes thirty judges six months of meticulous site visits and interviews (including the nominee, client and contractors) before the overall winner can be decided upon.
Chris Blythe, Chief Executive of the CIOB said: “CMYA is the only event of its kind to assess the pivotal role that construction managers play in bringing teams and stakeholders together. It offers a snapshot of the fantastic work that’s going on in the industry from retail to housing to large scale public services and rejuvenation projects we have taking place.
"The range of projects and the standards of entry are rising every year and this is testament to the professionalism of the construction industry as a whole.”
This year, for the first time, web users will be able to read every finalists story prior to the grand finale. These can be viewed at www.cmya.co.uk/2014-finalists.
Winners and medallists will be announced on Thursday 30 October 2014 at a gala evening at the Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel. The sponsors for CMYA 2014 are: CITB, Construction Manager, Hays Construction, IHS, St. James’s Place and Willis.
