Interest in the new Dimplex Quantum electric space heater is soaring, and the manufacturer is ramping up production to keep up with the unprecedented demand.
Several production lines at Dimplex’s Northern Ireland manufacturing facility have now been switched exclusively to Quantum production, to keep up with the volume of orders being placed.
Great advances in insulation technology and controllability mean that the Quantum space heating system is up to 25 per cent cheaper to run and uses up to 20 per cent less energy than other comparable electric heaters.
From the introduction of the Quantum concept last year, these and other benefits of the range have been widely recognised. In particular, Quantum’s combination of controllability, low running costs, and future-fit ‘smart’ grid compatibility has proved popular with social housing providers in tackling tenant fuel poverty and long-term carbon reduction targets.
Chris Stammers, Dimplex’s marketing director for trade and independents says: “We knew Quantum met a real need in the market and worked closely with energy supplier SSE to ensure it ticked the boxes for users, specifiers and utilities alike.
“However, we’ve still been pleasantly surprised with the enthusiasm with which it’s been welcomed by customers, with some housing associations scheduling refurbishment programmes around Quantum’s launch to ensure they were able to specify this range for their tenants.”
Feedback from early installations has been enormously positive, with users loving Quantum’s controllability and low operating costs, which allows them to use the stored heat as and when they need it, closely matching the desired room temperature throughout the day.
Quantum’s performance in real homes supports the initial results from field trials, in which running cost savings of up to 25 per cent were achieved, compared with conventional storage heaters.
