Dulux Trade has introduced a new range of colourants which have been reformulated to have virtually zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The move is part of a wider commitment to help customers work more sustainably. The range has been designed to offer the same high-quality colours and level of performance as existing colourants, but with less environmental impact.
The launch of virtually zero VOC colourants follows the brand’s investment in its white emulsions and a number of its tinting bases. Focusing on its colourant formulations, Dulux Trade has created a final mixed colour that has reduced VOCs, but can be used in the same way as existing products.
Joanne McMullen, Colour Services Activation Manager at Dulux Trade, explained: “Specifiers need high-quality solutions that meet the sustainable requirements of their projects, without compromising on performance.
“Recognising this, our R&D teams have been working to find alternative ingredients and water-based formulations that lower the environmental impact of products, while maintaining a first class finish. This type of research will continue to be a focus, ensuring we can deliver the best quality and most environmentally sound products possible. These new virtually zero VOC colourants have been developed to deliver the same high standard of colour clarity, ensuring that specifiers can provide more sustainable solutions and continue to meet end-users’ needs.”
