A new multi-utility Automated Meter Reading (AMR) service has been unveiled by Energy Assets to help energy suppliers and industrial and commercial (I&C) end-users optimise the value of Britain’s investment in advanced metering technology.
Energy Assets has created the Energydata24 branded service by bringing together the best elements of both its Pulse 24 brand and the Gazprom Global Energy Solutions AMR platform that formed a key part of the acquisition of GGES last year.
The new AMR service provides end-to-end support across the I&C sector, from technology installation to data collection, analysis, reporting - and extends the company’s reach for the first time into electricity, water and photovoltaic metering.
Energy Assets is the largest independent provider of I&C gas metering services in the UK, and end-users in this sector will be among the first to benefit from Energydata24, particularly as the government mandated roll-out of advanced meters for larger consumers moves towards its April 2014 deadline. Energydata24 enables suppliers and consumers to collect consumption data automatically via loggers connected to the pulse output of meters.
“The flexibility of the new AMR offer ensures that it can perform across every supplier network, delivering data, via SMS, GPRS or low powered radio, that is verified for billing accuracy and central to the effectiveness of end-user energy efficiency and CRC programmes,” said Kenny Cameron, Director of Strategic Development.
“Energydata24 is also strategically important because it moves Energy Assets into the multi-utility arena, broadening Energy Assets offering to an energy sector increasingly focused on innovative technologies that are cost effective, resource efficient and supportive of a wider sustainability agenda.”
Through the new AMR service, consumers will have the option to purchase or rent the data loggers that transmit information to the system’s web portal. Here, customers gain access to a wide range of reporting options, including:
Energydata24 is underpinned by an Energy Assets portfolio of services that includes infrastructure works, meter provision and management, and its own nationwide AMR installation team. The company currently has an asset base in Britain of 76,000 I&C meters, collects data from c.51,000 data points, handles around 1500 meter exchanges every month and counts among its customers some of Britain’s best known brands and most prominent public sector organisations.
